Cats and dogs now welcome in star blocks

30 July 2024

  • The Body Corporate has amended the pet policy to allow cats and dogs in star block units, reversing a longstanding ban.

  • The previous ban was seen as unfair, reduced unit marketability, and may have been legally indefensible.

  • Residents must still obtain prior written approval from the Committee before keeping a pet and/or bringing any pet on site.

In one of its first actions, the new Body Corporate Committee has amended the Freemans Park pet policy to allow cats and dogs in star blocks.

This amended policy reverses a longstanding ban that caused a great deal of angst for residents and discriminated against star block owners, limited the marketability of star block units for sale, and would have likely to have been indefensible if legally challenged by a resident or owner.

All residents are reminded that they are permitted to keep a pet only if they have obtained the permission of the Body Corporate Committee.

Any person wishing to keep a pet must also obtain the approval of the Body Corporate Committee prior to bringing their pet on site.

Further information, is available in the Body Corporates’ updated pet policy.
